How to Reset an INFINITI Check Engine Light

3. Loosen the nut on the negative terminal with a wrench, then pull the negative connector from the battery. Keep it to the side for 30 – 60 seconds.
4. Reconnect the negative cable and tighten it back up with your wrench.

If this process doesn’t work, there is another way to reset a check engine light. Keep in mind that disconnecting your vehicle’s battery may also reset its infotainment system. 

Check Your Gas Cap

If your check engine light is on, you just have a loose or cracked gas cap, which results in the release of fumes. If the engine light doesn’t turn off immediately, follow the steps above to disconnect the battery, and you should be all set!
